President sent a letter of congratulation to Barack Obama

Date: 8/4/2009, Prague

On Tuesday August 4, 2009, the President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus sent a letter of congratulation to the President of the United States of America Barack H. Obama on the occasion of his birthday:

Dear Mr. President,

Please accept my warmest congratulations, both personally and on behalf of the citizens of the Czech Republic on the occasion of your 48th birthday. I wish you firm health, happiness and every success in fulfilling your responsible and challenging mission.

We enjoyed having you and Michelle here in Prague in April and hope there will be many more similar encounters in the years to come.

The bilateral relations between our two countries are better than ever. We are allies, we share the same values and beliefs and we are ready to defend them side by side.

Your speech at the Hradčany Square went far beyond the usual political rhetoric and managed to catch people’s hearts. You have many friends here and I hope you know that.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President.

With best regards

Václav Klaus
