President sent a telegram of condolence to David D. Friedman

Date: 8/19/2009, Prague

On Wednesday, August 19, 2009, the President sent a telegram of condolence to Mr David D. Friedman, the son of Milton and Rose Friedman, on the passing of Mrs Rose Friedman:

Dear Professor Friedman,

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing away of your mother. Rose was not only an unfailingly loving companion to Milton, she was also a brilliant economist and thinker in her own right. But most importantly, she was a woman of many admirable personal qualities. I had a lot of esteem for her and she will be sorely missed by all of us.

I know that words cannot ease your loss. Yet allow me, on my behalf and on behalf of the citizens of the Czech Republic, to express our sincere condolences to you and Janet.

Yours sincerely,

Václav Klaus
