Chancellor of the Office of the President

The Chancellor of the Office of the President is a statutory body that represents the Office externally, manages and controls the activities of the Office and is responsible for them. When executing his duties, the Chancellor is responsible to the President of the Republic who manages him and assigns tasks to him. The Chancellor of the Office of the President directly manages the directors of the Secretariat of the President of the Republic, Organisational Section, Political Department, Protocol, Press Department, Foreign Affairs Department, Legislative and Legal Department, Security Department, Head of the Internal Audit Department and the Security Director.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic for Communication and Culture

The Deputy Head of the Office of the President for Communication and Culture represents the Head of the Office in all spheres defined in the Rules of Internal Governance of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic or those spheres delegated to him or her by the Head of the Office. In his function, the Deputy is accountable to the Head of the Office who supervises him and delegates tasks to him. The Deputy Head for Communication and Culture directly supervises the Head of the Press Department, Heritage Conservation Department, Registry and Archive Services Department and Secretariat of the Head of Office for Communication and Media.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic for Economics and Organisation

The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic economics and organisation substitutes at times when the Chancellor of the Office is not present within the scope of competences as defined in the President's Office Organisational Code or in matters that the Chancellor of the Office delegates to her. From performance of his title he answers to the Chancellor of the Office, and sets tasks for him. The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic for economics and organisation is in direct charge of the Secretariat of the Chancellor of the Office and director of the Economic and Personnel Department. He co-ordinates activities related to the internal operations of the Office and with the Prague Castle Administration and Lány Forest Administration. He is entrusted with managing the Security Department.

Secretariat of the President of the Republic

The Secretariat of the President of the Republic organises, in cooperation with the other sections of the President's Office, daily execution of the activities of the President of the Republic and fulfils also other tasks on the basis of direct President's instructions. The Secretariat of the President of the Republic is responsible directly to the President for fulfilment of these tasks. In all other matters, the Organisational Section is subordinated to the Chancellor of the Office of the President.

The Organisational Section is divided into two departments:
a) Department of the Manager of the Secretariat of the President of the Republic,
b) President's Wife's Secretariat.

Political Department

The Political Department accumulates, processes and assesses, for the needs of the President, information on the activities of the Chamber of Deputies, Senate, Government, ministries and other administration authorities, self-government bodies, political parties, economic entities, trade unions and other social organisations and prepares background documents and recommendations for meetings and speeches of the President. The Political Department receives and handles written and oral petitions of citizens addressed to the President of the Republic and to the Office of the President.

The Director of the Political Department organises co-ordination of execution of activities of the counsellors of the President of the Republic.

The Director of the Political Department holds the position of the President's Secretary at the same time. The President's Secretary is responsible for public relations of the President of the Republic within the extent given by the authorisation of the President and on the basis of the President's direct instructions.

The Public Relation Department is incorporated in the Political Department.

Protocol

Protocol makes protocolar and organisational arrangements for the President of the Republic to exercise his constitutional powers as they relate to his external representation of the state and the official part of his programme. In discharging these duties, Protocol works together with the appropriate offices of Parliament, the government and state administration and the relevant Office Departments. Protocol is headed by a Director on the level of a Departmental Director.

Press Department

The Press Department ensures publicity of public appearances of the President of the Republic in the mass media, organises press conferences and operative contacts of the President of the Republic with media people. The Press Department is headed by a Departmental Director.

Foreign Affairs Department

The Foreign Affairs Department analyses, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, information on the foreign policy of the Czech Republic and international relations for the use of the President of the Republic and prepares background documents and recommendations for foreign-policy meetings and speeches of the President of the Republic. The Foreign Affairs Department is headed by the Director of the Department.

Legislative and Legal Department

The Legislative and Legal Department draws up recommendations for decisions to be made by the President of the Republic involving the exercise of his constitutional rights and the discharge of his constitutional obligations in the legislative process and the exercise of his executive powers. The Legislative and Legal Department is headed by a Director on the level of a Departmental Director.

Heritage Conservation Department

Heritage Conservation executes the state administration in the area of heritage conservation in the complex of the national cultural monument, Prague Castle, and the grounds of Lany Chateau. Heritage Conservation is headed by a Departmental Director.

The Economic and Personnel Department is responsible for the funding of the President's Office section and for the personnel agenda of the organisational unit of the state.

Military Office

The Military Office of the President of the Republic is a special military unit of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, whose activities are governed by separate Organisational Regulations of the Military Office as approved by the President of the Republic. The Military Office performs duties involving the exercise of the powers of the President of the Republic as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the administration of the Castle Guard. The Military Office is headed by the Chief of the Military Office who is appointed and recalled by the President of the Republic. The Chief of the Military Office is immediately subordinate to the President of the Republic.
