The President of the Republic Miloš Zeman has sent a telegram of sympathy to Sheikh Muhammad Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Abu Dhabi crown prince and incumbent president of the United Arab Emirates.
With great grief in my heard, I received information on the passing of the death of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.
Sheikh Al Nahyan became a beloved ruler and world-renowned politician. He had worked tirelessly for the welfare of the United Arab Emirates since its founding, had actively engaged in advocating security around the world and kept strong ties with its regional neighbours.
His Highness was a particularly good friend of the Czech Republic and its citizens. He had always been influential in deepening friendly relations between our countries. I perceive his passing as a huge loss to the United Arab Emirates and its people, but also to world diplomacy.
Your Highness, let me express on behalf of the Czech citizens as well as on behalf of myself deepest condolences to the United Arab Emirates and the aggrieved family.
President of the Czech Republic
