The Address of the President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman on the Occasion of the International Holocaust Memorial Day: Remembering, Perpetuating and Pursuing Justice

Holocaust or Shoah is the biggest crime in the human history and all normal people condemned the Holocaust and asked how it was possible to do something like this by the German nation, and not only by this nation. But condemnation is not enough. We must seek the sources and factors of Holocaust and I think that the main factor is the simple envy of a more successful nation or a more successful race. And that’s why this envy is still present. It is present in the inferiority complex felt to the Jewish people, to Israel. It is present in the cowardice which is sometimes called appeasement. We see it in the European Union which is strictly pro-Palestinian that is pro-terrorist, and we see it in Iran who speaks about extinction of Israel from the map. What else is it rather than a new form of Holocaust, this extinction from the map? So, friends, in my last speech in Knesset I said that by betraying Israel, we betray ourselves. Please, in the name of suppression of any new form of Holocaust, please let's not betray ourselves.

Miloš Zeman, the President of the Czech Republic, Prague, 27th January 2021
