Joint Statement by the President of the Czech Republic and the President of the Federal Republic of Germany:

Good neighbourly relations are a cornerstone of any foreign policy. Today, Czechia and Germany share an exceptionally close and strong partnership.

We deeply value the path of reconciliation our nations have travelled after a dark and painful chapter of history. In the spirit of mutual understanding, respect and partnership, our countries have come a long way – and we believe the upcoming events in Brno will reflect this same spirit.

Our relations are firmly anchored in the present: in close and growing cooperation in trade, energy, transport, innovation and industry, security and defence – and above all in our shared European future. This is the path we remain committed to pursuing together.

President Steinmeier has accepted President Pavel’s invitation to visit Prague later this year.
