On Sunday, 24 May, President Petr Pavel received the Minister-President of the Free State of Bavaria, Markus Söder, at Prague Castle. The meeting followed up on the reception held in Selb, Bavaria, in May 2023.

President Pavel and the Bavarian Minister-President agreed that Czech-German relations are based on mutual respect and a shared outlook towards the future, and that the past must not stand in the way of good neighbourly relations. Bavaria is a key economic partner for Czechia among the German federal states, which makes it all the more important to further develop cooperation in areas such as transport, trade, culture, tourism and healthcare.
