President Petr Pavel visited the United States of America from 21 to 24 September. As part of his working visit, he participated in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. In addition to delivering the national address, the President of the Czech Republic also spoke at the UN Security Council on the situation in Ukraine. In both speeches, he strongly condemned Russian aggression.

The war in Ukraine was also the main topic of a meeting convened by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky entitled "Restoring Childhood and Humanity: Advancing Peace in Ukraine through the Return of Abducted Children", where the President of the Czech Republic also delivered a speech.

Beyond his participation in these sessions, President Pavel held a number of bilateral meetings, including with the President of the General Assembly and with several heads of state, such as the Presidents of the Republic of Korea, the Lebanese Republic, Syria, Senegal, and the President of Namibia. The aim of these meetings was to promote stability and security and to explore new trade opportunities.

The President’s working visit included not only New York but also a short stop near Boston, at Harvard University. There, as part of the series The Václav Havel Lecture on Human Rights, Civil Society and Democracy, he delivered an afternoon lecture followed by a discussion with students.
