Open House Praha
Open House Prague 2026 is returning to Prague Castle once again. The festival will begin on May 18 and culminate over the weekend of May 23–24 with the opening of more than 100 buildings and venues throughout Prague.
During this year's season, Prague Castle will open
the Romanesque Floor of the Old Royal Palace,
which is normally closed to the public. The dominant feature of the whole floor is a hall with a high vaulted ceiling. It breathes with the atmosphere of spectacular feasts of the Middle Ages, however, its use was probably less grand. It could have served as storage or later as a prison.
On the Romanesque floor there is also a fortification tower from the 12th century
and remains of the very first defence rampart of the 10th century. In addition to that,
the lowest floor of the palace also conceals the spot where the Czech Crown Jewels
were hidden during World War II.
The entrance to the Romanesque Floor is from the South Gardens.
The festival is held under the patronage of the President Petr Pavel and his wife Eva Pavlová.
