No increase in the number of requests may be traced in the agenda of requests for information according to the Act No. 106/1999 Coll., on free access to information, as amended; nevertheless, it may be concluded that in certain cases the law is being misused, which may stem from an insufficient knowledge of the law.

With reference to the veto put forth by the President on the Amendment to the Lotteries Act, two requesting parties requested information regarding the notifications stated in the veto justification.

In both cases, the individual requesting parties were provided with an explanation of the due process of law applied for drawing up and submitting the veto to the Chamber of Deputies. Particular emphasis was placed on the power granted to the President of the Republic by the Constitution of the Czech Republic.

Four requesting parties demanded, under the Act No. 106/1999 Coll., on free access to information, that they be provided with the “Agreement between the President of the Republic and the members of the so-called K 9, concluded during the meeting at the Prague Castle on 21 December 2010”. These requests were settled by explaining that the Office of the President of the Republic did not possess any information concerning the respective meeting.

Other requests for information according to the Act No. 106/1999 Coll., on free access to information, submitted to the Office of the President of the Republic, regarded, for example, the manner of handling suggestions in the Office of the President of the Republic, the appointment of Military Court Judges, or the publication activity of the President of the Republic, which is in no way related to the activities of the Office of the President of the Republic.
