Information for Applicants

 The President of the Republic endorses relevant cultural, economic, and social events of importance in the Czech Republic and at the same time lends a helping hand to projects which are exceptional in their focus or concept. The granting of patronage does not involve the personal participation of the President of the Republic or a representative of the Office of the President of the Republic (hereinafter referred to as “the OPR”) or their cooperation in organising the event, nor does it involve any financial support for the event. The President of the Republic decides on the granting of patronage at his own discretion and if granted, the patronage should be perceived as an honour. The granting of patronage is not conditional.

Patronage Application Procedure

Submitting a patronage application:

An application for patronage may only be submitted electronically, using the Patronage Application Form (in DOCX  document format).

Filling in all the details of the electronic form is always required. Insufficient or missing information may result in patronage not being provided/granted.

The form must be saved to a computer and sent in its completed version, together with other attachments, such as the finalised project, draft promotional materials, brochure for the event, etc., to the email address of zc.darh@ytitsaz.

The applicant will be informed by email about the acceptance of the application for processing.

Patronage application processing:

The President of the Republic decides on received applications for patronage within a period of no less than 45 days from the date of delivery. Therefore, patronage must be requested well in advance, i.e., at least 120 days before the date of the event or the launch date of the respective project.

The applicant will be informed in writing whether the patronage of the President of the Republic has been granted or not.

If patronage is granted, it will be sent to the address specified in the application. Patronage is granted in written form, in the form of a communication signed by the President of the Republic. If patronage is granted, the event may be promoted with the addition “under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic” but without the use of state symbols.

The OPR reserves the right to not return to the applicant any materials which they may have provided in a non-electronic form together with the application for patronage.

The applicant is obliged to provide the OPR with copies of materials (invitations, brochures, etc.) for archival purposes, in which they communicate the fact that the event is held under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic.

Criteria:

When assessing applications for the patronage of the President of the Republic, the following aspects are reviewed in particular:

  • whether the event/project is outlined in detail and time-limited;
  • whether the event/project is regional, national, or international in nature;
  • whether the event/project has a history or represents a brand-new activity;
  • the way the activity is financed;
  • whether the event/project has already been granted patronage by another entity;
  • the quality of the project processing/outline;
  • references in the case of a recurring event/project;
  • the credibility of the project and the applicant (the applicant must not be a person who is in liquidation, bankrupt, or threatened with bankruptcy, or who has criminal proceedings initiated against them or their statutory body or any of its members, or who has been convicted of a crime).

Additional information:

The granted patronage always applies only to the specific event/project which is the subject of the patronage application. The granted patronage may not be used for other purposes or a different event.

The OPR, or the President of the Republic, reserves the right to revoke/withdraw the already granted patronage if there are particularly serious reasons for doing so, especially if it proves to be the case that the said event/project is not compatible with the program and policy of the President of the Republic, is contrary to the law, or damages the name of the President of the Republic or the OPR. Neither the OPR nor the President of the Republic is liable for damages resulting from the withdrawal of patronage.

The granting of patronage does not entail any obligations for the President of the Republic or the OPR.
